QUESTIONS....

Are we to believe
Michael Vick's claims of remorse for what he did are truly sincere? Only time will tell if he's fooled us all again.
Cruel irony, or not: Just when Omar Infante finally came back from more than two months on the disabled list, the man who benefited most from his absence -- Martin Prado -- went down with a mysterious case of headaches and dizziness.
Has Brett Favre retired again, yet?
How is Georgia ranked above Georgia Tech in the pre-season college football rankings? The Bulldogs lost their starting quarterback (
Matthew Stafford), top running back (
Knowshon Moreno), a highly regarded wide receiver (
Mohamed Massaquoi), and a top-notch defensive back (
Asher Allen) to the NFL, while the Yellow Jackets offense returns the conference Player of the Year (
Jonathan Dwyer) to serve as the linchpin for a running game that was virtually unstoppable in 2008, and should be even more difficult to contain this season.

WWJD? How about WWTT? What else can be asked when
Tim Tebow poses shirtless for the cover of a GQ Magazine? What was Tim thinking?
And we thought
Rickey Henderson was a little nutty, did we? What to think of fellow baseball Hall of Fame inductee
Jim Rice, then? In speaking to Little Leaguers before the start of their World Series, the fomer Boston great lumped
Derek Jeter's name in with
Alex Rodriguez,
Manny Ramirez and
David Ortiz while preaching to the kids the virtues of his generation as opposed those involved in the steroids era. Problem is Jeter has never been linked with any of it, and was rightfully miffed when informed of the comments. Great, just what we need is another another controversy involving the Hatfields and McKoys of the sport, the Yankees and Red Sox!
When does
Dancing With The Stars start again?
After blowing the final round lead at the PGA Championship, does
Tiger Woods qualify as finally being human?

Is there currently an athlete on the planet Earth with a more apropos name than
Usain Bolt?
What will come to an end first? The war in Iraq, or the battle between the owners of the Atlanta Spirit group?
Will the NFL force
Jerry Jones to literally raise the roof at his new palatial stadium so punts don't consistently hit the monstrous TV screens that hover over the playing field?
What ever happened to
Isaiah Rider?
Will
Vince Young or Matt Leinart ever be factors in the NFL?

For all the wrong they have done over the years when it comes to the NBA draft, I have to say it looks like the Hawks got it right with
Jeff Teague. The kid can do it all, and he's a legit point guard. FINALLY. So kudos to
Rick Sund in his first go-round as

the team's GM. With that said, it's still tough to forget about the likes of
Ed Gray, Roshown McLeod, Priest Lauderdale, Doug Edwards, Adam Keefe, Rumeal Robinson, Roy Marble, et al. Oh yeah, they also pciked
Pau Gasol...and then traded him away.
The good news for the Braves is the Yankees have left town. The bad news is the Red Sox are now here.
At least there's now a palusible explanation for Cubs catcher
Geovany Soto's drastic weight gain since last season: having tested positive for marijuana during the World Baseball Classic, it's quite obvious that last year's National League Rookie of the Year had one big case of the munchies.
Reaching the final at the Confederation Cup is a nice achievement for the U.S. Men's soccer team. Do at least the same in the World Cup, and maybe, just maybe, the rest of the globe's favorite sport will resonate even slightly in America.
Without question,
Jared Mitchell is BMOC at LSU. Let us count the ways: The Most Outstanding Player in the just-completed College World Series title run by the Tigers. First round draft pick of the Chicago White Sox. Wide receiver on the Bayou Bengals national championship team back in 2007. Yeah, not too shabby. As they say in Cajun Country: "Laissez Les Bon Temps Roulez."

I'm glad
John Smoltz was optimistic about his Red Sox debut despite getting pummeled by the lowly Nationals for five runs in five innings, including four in the opening frame. Smoltzie certainly deserves the benefit of the doubt after more than a year away from a major league mound. However, a few more outings like the one he endured in the nation's capital, and the Braves will look even better for their decision not to ante up the big bucks to Big John.
While the Hawks gave up virtually nothing (the always-injured
Speedy Claxton and the seldom-used
Acie Law) to get him,
Jamal Crawford is strictly a one-dimensional player. He can out-and-out fill it up on the offensive end of the court, but then give it all right back defensively. How that will fit in -- and play out -- with the defensive-minded
Mike Woodson, remains to be seen.
Mike Tyson got married the other day for the third time. Under normal circumstances, this news would have resulted in a field day for pundits, and provided a landslide of comic material for late night talk show hosts.
Not this time, though.
In the wake of the recent tragic death of his four-year old daughter Exodus, Tyson's nupitals to the former
Lakiha Spicer brings only hope that the former heavyweight champion of the world can find some solace and happiness.
Prior to the terrible accident that took the life of his offspring, Tyson was solely responsible for all the negativity that came his way -- and rightfully so -- while being looked upon as a tragic figure for all that he had wrought upon himself.
The Tyson list of screw ups is litanous: the much-publicized break-up of his first

marriage to actress
Robin Givens, the inexplicable loss of his titles to
Buster Douglas in Tokyo, the rape conviction, the drug usage, the DUIs, the IRS issues, the traffic violations, the proclamation of wanting to eat an opponents children, and the infamous gnawing away of part of
Evander Holyfield's ear.

Now though, sympathy is something that is being bestowed upon the figure once known as the baddest man on the planet. To those who know him closely, the one-time 'Iron Mike' has been described -- on some rare occasions -- as a warm and cuddly teddy bear. Yes, it seems hard to believe of someone who has as dark of a past as Tyson does.
But here we are -- nearly a quarter century since he first burst on to the scene as an indestructable force of nature -- and Mike Tyson's defeats inside the ring and malfeasances out of it have been softened in some small part by the one thing no parent should ever have to endure -- the loss of their child.
Here's hoping Mike finds some inner peace for once in his life.
